Decayed Bones
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمࣰا نَّخِرَةࣰ ١١
Even after we are crumbled bones.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
“Even when we are decayed bones?”
Insight
Elmalılı explains “nakhirah” as rotten, crumbling bone, blown by the wind or hollow so it whistles in the wind. This is mockery following denial.
