An Oath by the Day of Resurrection
لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ ١
Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, the “la” here does not negate the oath; like “No, by Allah”, it is an oath after a negation. The majority say it is added only for emphasis.
