Insight and Mercy
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَآ أَهۡلَكۡنَا ٱلۡقُرُونَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ بَصَآئِرَ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدࣰى وَرَحۡمَةࣰ لَّعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ ٤٣
And We verily gave the Scripture unto Moses after We had destroyed the generations of old: clear testimonies for mankind, and a guidance and a mercy, that haply they might reflect.

Meaning
We gave Moses the Scripture after destroying the former generations, as insight, guidance and mercy for people.

According to Elmalılı, in the Qur’an’s language the “first generations” end with Pharaoh’s destruction.
