A Decreed Matter
وَفَجَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأَرۡضَ عُيُونࣰا فَٱلۡتَقَى ٱلۡمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمۡرࣲ قَدۡ قُدِرَ ١٢
And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already decreed.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, saying “water” in the singular rather than “two waters” indicates that both were in essence one water.
