The Gates of the Sky
فَفَتَحۡنَآ أَبۡوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءࣲ مُّنۡهَمِرࣲ ١١
Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, by the majority view this is an extended metaphor: water pouring violently from the clouds.

Ask for rain as a mercy.
