As-Samad
ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ ٢
Allah, the eternally Besought of all.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Allah is as-Samad: everything depends on Him, and He depends on nothing.
Insight
Elmalılı gives two meanings of ‘as-Samad’. The first is the One to whom every wish is directed; in this sense the most eminent elder of a people is called ‘samad al-qawm’. The second is that which has no hollow, which is whole and without gap, like the Turkish word ‘som’ (solid).
Reflect
As you list your needs, think about who each one ultimately rests with.
