Servants of the Most Merciful
The (faithful) slaves of the Beneficent are they who walk upon the earth modestly, and when the foolish ones address them answer: Peace.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
The servants of the Most Merciful walk upon the earth humbly, and when the ignorant address them, they say: “Peace.”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, the servants of the Most Merciful are the blessed ones who serve Him alone, knowing to remember and thank Him. Until the end of the surah they are described by eight qualities, each recalling a group.
Reflect
Today, answer anyone who taunts you with “peace” and move on.
