In Succession
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ ٱلَّيۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ خِلۡفَةࣰ لِّمَنۡ أَرَادَ أَن يَذَّكَّرَ أَوۡ أَرَادَ شُكُورࣰا ٦٢
And He it is Who hath appointed night and day in succession, for him who desireth to remember, or desireth thankfulness.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
It is He who made the night and day in succession for whoever desires to remember or be grateful.

According to Elmalılı, each takes the other’s place: what cannot be done in one may be done in the other.
