Love of Wealth
وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلۡخَيۡرِ لَشَدِيدٌ ٨
And lo! in the love of wealth he is violent.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And he is fierce in his love of wealth.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, the Qur’an often calls wealth “khayr” (good), because human nature inclines to it. But excessive love of wealth makes a person stingy and hard.
