Night
A token unto them is night. We strip it of the day, and lo! they are in darkness.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
The night is a sign for them: We strip the day from it, and they are in darkness.
Insight
Elmalılı says that while the previous verses show power in space, this one points to power in time. “Strip” is like peeling off a skin: the day is pulled away from the night.
Reflect
This evening, watch how the light withdraws at sunset.
