No Time for Escape
كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن قَرۡنࣲ فَنَادَواْ وَّلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصࣲ ٣
How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And they called out, but it was not a time for escape.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, when they saw destruction they repented and cried “O my Lord!”; but by then it was no time for escape or rescue.

Don’t leave your repentance to the last moment.
