Hasten Our Share
وَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبۡلَ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡحِسَابِ ١٦
They say: Our Lord! Hasten on for us our fate before the Day of Reckoning.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
They say: “Our Lord, hasten for us our share before the Day of Account.”
Insight
Elmalılı explains “qitt” as originally a voucher of gifts, here a share: “No need to wait for the Resurrection; give us our punishment in advance,” they said.
