Why He Prayed So
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرۡهُمۡ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرࣰا كَفَّارࣰا ٢٧
If Thou shouldst leave them, they will mislead Thy slaves and will beget none save lewd ingrates.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
“If You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and beget only wicked disbelievers.”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, the effect of this prayer was not only the drowning of Noah’s people; a new line of humanity continued from him and the believers with him.
