A Plot
أَمۡ يُرِيدُونَ كَيۡدࣰاۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡمَكِيدُونَ ٤٢
Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared.

Meaning
Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve, they are the object of the plan.

According to Elmalılı, this points to those who wanted to plot an assassination against the Prophet and the believers in Dar an-Nadwah.
