A Mirage

As for those who disbelieve, their deeds are as a mirage in a desert. The thirsty one supposeth it to be water till he cometh unto it and findeth it naught, and findeth, in the place thereof, Allah Who payeth him his due; and Allah is swift at reckoning.

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

The deeds of the disbelievers are like a mirage in a desert, which the thirsty thinks is water until he comes to it and finds nothing.

Insight

According to Elmalılı, because their beliefs are corrupt and their aims are whims, what they do as good is like a mirage glittering afar.

Reflect

Tie your deeds to a sound intention.
