The Angels’ Intercession
And how many angels are in the heavens whose intercession availeth naught save after Allah giveth leave to whom He chooseth and accepteth.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
How many angels in the heavens whose intercession avails nothing except after Allah permits.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, the idolaters took idols as images of angels and hoped for intercession by drawing near them; yet even angels’ intercession depends on permission.
Reflect
Pray hoping for intercession only by Allah’s leave.
