Neither Strayed Nor Erred
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمۡ وَمَا غَوَىٰ ٢
Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Your companion has not strayed, nor has he erred.
Insight
Elmalılı explains “dalal” as losing the way and “ghayy” as losing soundness of mind: the Prophet neither lost his way nor his judgement.
