Do Not Be Like the Man of the Fish
But wait thou for thy Lord’s decree, and be not like him of the fish, who cried out in despair.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
So be patient for the decision of your Lord, and do not be like the companion of the fish.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, if Allah gives them respite instead of destroying them at once, bear the mission of prophethood with great character and steadfastness; do not hasten in anger like Jonah.
Reflect
Postpone a decision made in anger today.
