I Extend Their Rope
وَأُمۡلِي لَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ كَيۡدِي مَتِينٌ ٤٥
Yet I bear with them, for lo! My scheme is firm.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And I will give them time; indeed, My plan is firm.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, Allah extends their rope and gives respite as if leaving them to their wishes; they think it a gain, plunge into sin and rejoice, “We are free”.
Reflect
See unpunished sin as a respite, not an escape.
