Who Will Save?
Say (O Muhammad): Have ye thought: Whether Allah causeth me (Muhammad) and those with me to perish or hath mercy on us, still, who will protect the disbelievers from a painful doom.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Say: Have you considered: if Allah destroys me and those with me, or has mercy on us, who will protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?
Insight
Elmalılı explains this as an answer to the Meccan idolaters who hoped to be rid of the warning when the Prophet died: the warning does not depend on the Prophet’s life, for it comes from Allah, who never dies.
