Reverence Unseen
Lo! those who fear their Lord in secret, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Those who fear their Lord without seeing Him will have forgiveness and a great reward.
Insight
Elmalılı explains “bil-ghayb” in two ways: being mindful before the punishment arrives, or revering Allah sincerely from within the heart, not as a show for others. The reward belongs to these, not to those who only fear once they see it.
Reflect
Can you be the same person in a moment when no one sees you?
