Dhul-Qarnayn
They will ask thee of Dhu’l-Qarneyn. Say: I shall recite unto you a remembrance of him.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
They ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say: “I will recite to you something about him.”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, the askers were, by some reports, the idolaters and, by others, the People of the Book; the Quraysh idolaters asked it at the prompting of the Jews.
