The Cave · Meccan · Juz 15 · Page 296

If Allah Wills

Except if Allah will. And remember thy Lord when thou forgettest, and say: It may be that my Lord guideth me unto a nearer way of truth than this.

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

Except “if Allah wills”. And remember your Lord when you forget.

Insight

According to Elmalılı, when intending something for the future one should tie it to Allah’s will; if one forgets, one should remember Allah on recalling it, by saying “inshallah” or by glorifying Him and asking forgiveness.

Reflect

When you recall a forgotten “inshallah”, say it.
