His Lord Was Watching
بَلَىٰٓۚ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرࣰا ١٥
Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Yes! His Lord was ever watching him.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, it was not as he thought; his Lord was seeing and watching all he did and would not let him slip away.
