Favour
They make it a favour unto thee (Muhammad) that they have surrendered (unto Him). Say: Deem not your Surrender a favour unto me; but Allah doth confer a favour on you, inasmuch as He hath led you to the Faith, if ye are earnest.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
They count it a favour to you that they submitted. Say: “Do not count your Islam a favour to me; rather Allah has favoured you by guiding you to faith.”
Insight
Elmalılı explains “minnah” as a blessing given wanting no return, only to meet the other’s need; such a blessing deserves eternal gratitude.
Reflect
Don’t remind anyone of a kindness you did today.
