The Way of the Former
لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدۡ خَلَتۡ سُنَّةُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ١٣
They believe not therein, though the example of the men of old hath gone before.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
They will not believe in it, while the precedent of the former peoples has already occurred.

According to Elmalılı, Allah always destroyed those who denied and mocked in the past; this is a long-standing law.
