They Would Not Believe Their Eyes
وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم بَابࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّواْ فِيهِ يَعۡرُجُونَ ١٤
And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Even if We opened to them a gate from heaven and they continued ascending therein…
Insight
According to Elmalılı, even if they saw angels openly ascending and descending, or ascended themselves, they would not believe their eyes and would say “we are bewitched.”
