They Denied the Hour
بَلۡ كَذَّبُواْ بِٱلسَّاعَةِۖ وَأَعۡتَدۡنَا لِمَن كَذَّبَ بِٱلسَّاعَةِ سَعِيرًا ١١
Nay, but they deny (the coming of) the Hour, and for those who deny (the coming of) the Hour We have prepared a flame.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Rather, they deny the Hour; and We have prepared for those who deny it a blaze.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, the particle “bal” turns the speech from what preceded to the real issue: their true problem is denying the Hour.
