Barriers Before and Behind
And We have set a bar before them and a bar behind them, and (thus) have covered them so that they see not.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
We have put a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and covered them, so they do not see.
Insight
In Elmalılı’s explanation, these barriers depict a veil that closes both the future and the past to those who persist in denial. There is looking, but no seeing.
Reflect
Today, try to look at a matter without prejudice.
