Dead Earth
A token unto them is the dead earth. We revive it, and We bring forth from it grain so that they eat thereof.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
The dead earth is a sign for them: We give it life and bring forth grain from it, which they eat.
Insight
Elmalılı suggests picturing an Arabian desert in the midday heat: the earth seems the very opposite of life, a dead thing. The One who gives it life is surely able to raise the dead.
Reflect
Think about how a bite you eat today came out of the soil.
