If Only My People Knew

It was said (unto him): Enter paradise. He said: Would that my people knew.

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

It was said: “Enter Paradise!” He said: “If only my people knew…”

Insight

According to Elmalılı, the man was martyred and honoured by entering Paradise directly, as are those martyred in Allah’s way. Even on seeing Paradise, his first thought was his people.
