To the One Who Created Me
وَمَالِيَ لَآ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ٢٢
For what cause should I not serve Him Who hath created me, and unto Whom ye will be brought back.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Why should I not worship the One who created me? To Him you will all be returned.
Insight
Elmalılı sees gentle tact in these words: instead of blaming his people, the man speaks of himself: “Worshipping my Creator is my duty.” So he makes them think without offending them.
