Love of Good
And he said: Lo! I have preferred the good things (of the world) to the remembrance of my Lord; till they were taken out of sight behind the curtain.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
He said: “I loved the good for the remembrance of my Lord”, until the sun disappeared behind the veil.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, most commentators explained this as: “Love of wealth and horses kept me from remembering my Lord.”
