Wisdom Given to Luqman
And verily We gave Luqman wisdom, saying: Give thanks unto Allah; and whosoever giveth thanks, he giveth thanks for (the good of) his soul. And whosoever refuseth - Lo! Allah is Absolute, Owner of Praise.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
We gave Luqman wisdom: “Be grateful to Allah.” Whoever is grateful is grateful for his own good.
Insight
Elmalılı summarises the reports: Luqman was a sage who lived long, met David and took knowledge from him. The heart of the wisdom given to him is gratitude.
Reflect
Give thanks today, knowing gratitude returns to you.
