Do Not Prostrate to the Sun

And of His portents are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or the moon; but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if it is in truth Him Whom ye worship.

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

Do not prostrate to the sun or the moon, but prostrate to Allah who created them.

Insight

According to Elmalılı, this is a verse of prostration; night, day, sun and moon are proofs of Allah’s existence, power and wisdom.

Reflect

Prostrate today to the Creator, not the created.
