Hope
Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
O My servants who have wronged themselves, do not despair of Allah’s mercy. Allah forgives all sins. He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
Insight
Elmalılı relates that this verse is known as the most hopeful verse of the Qur’an. But he adds: this hope is not an encouragement to sin; it calls even the most sinful person to repent without delay. The verses right after show this too.
Reflect
Is there a repentance or a making-up you have been putting off?
