We Could Make Angels
And had We willed We could have set among you angels to be viceroys in the earth.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And if We willed, We could have made from you angels succeeding one another on earth.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, just as Jesus was born of Mary, We could have had angels born from you; that would not make them divine.
Reflect
Don’t confuse the wonder of creation with divinity.
