Burdens
وَأَخۡرَجَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ أَثۡقَالَهَا ٢
And Earth yieldeth up her burdens.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And the earth brings forth its burdens.
Insight
Elmalılı relates two interpretations of these burdens: the dead coming out of their graves, or the treasures and minerals beneath the earth being cast out. On that day even the world’s most precious treasures lose their value.
Reflect
Think about how important something you value greatly will be on that day.
