The Returning Sky
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ ١١
By the heaven which giveth the returning rain.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
By the sky that returns, and the earth that splits.
Insight
Elmalılı explains “dhat ar-raj‘” as the sky that returns, the first thought being clouds returning with rain. And the earth splits open with plants.
