Thamud
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِطَغۡوَىٰهَآ ١١
(The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Thamud denied out of their arrogance.
Insight
Elmalılı describes Thamud as an ancient Arab people completely destroyed, whose ruin became proverbial. Allah had sent them the prophet Salih.
