They Turned Away
فَتَوَلَّوۡاْ عَنۡهُ مُدۡبِرِينَ ٩٠
And they turned their backs and went away from him.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
So they turned away from him, departing.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, they feared illness and plague; the expression is very subtle: when he said he was ill they fled, then when he struck they came rushing back.
