Plants That Prostrate
وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسۡجُدَانِ ٦
The stars and the trees prostrate.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And the stemless plants and the trees prostrate.
Insight
Elmalılı explains “najm” as plants without a stem and “shajar” as trees with a trunk: they submit to Allah’s will. So people too should willingly submit to His commands.
Reflect
As you look at a tree today, think that it too is prostrating.
