Thinking Well
Why did not the believers, men and women, when ye heard it, think good of their own own folk, and say: It is a manifest untruth.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Why, when you heard it, did the believing men and women not think good of one another and say: “This is an obvious lie”?
Insight
According to Elmalılı, believers should have thought well of themselves and of their brethren whom they should regard as themselves.
Reflect
Meet bad news about a brother first with a good opinion.
