Nothing But What He Strives For
وَأَن لَّيۡسَ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ ٣٩
And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And that there is not for man except that for which he strives.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, just as one is not held accountable for another’s crime, one cannot claim anything but one’s own effort; man has only his striving.
