Grant What You Promised
رَبَّنَا وَءَاتِنَا مَا وَعَدتَّنَا عَلَىٰ رُسُلِكَ وَلَا تُخۡزِنَا يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۖ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخۡلِفُ ٱلۡمِيعَادَ ١٩٤
Our Lord! And give us that which Thou hast promised to us by Thy messengers. Confound us not upon the Day of Resurrection. Lo! Thou breakest not the tryst.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
“Our Lord, grant us what You promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection.”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, in believing in this caller the believers believed in all the prophets without distinction; so they ask that the promises made to them be given to them too.
