The Purified
لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُطَهَّرُونَ ٧٩
Which none toucheth save the purified.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
None touch it except the purified.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, this negation has the force of a prohibition: only believers cleansed of physical and spiritual impurity, in a state of ablution, should touch it. Fiqh forbids touching the Qur’an while in major impurity because of this verse.
