The Backbreaker
تَظُنُّ أَن يُفۡعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةࣱ ٢٥
Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Knowing a backbreaking calamity will be done to them.
Insight
Elmalılı explains “faqirah” as a fierce calamity that strikes and breaks the vertebrae; “thinking” here means knowing with certainty.
