We Were Wrongdoers
قَالُواْ سُبۡحَٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ ٢٩
They said: Glorified be our Lord! Lo! we have been wrong-doers.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
They said: “Glory be to our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers.”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, they glorified Allah and confessed that by rash oaths, failing to say inshallah and resolving to neglect the poor, they had wronged themselves.
