The Most Moderate of Them
قَالَ أَوۡسَطُهُمۡ أَلَمۡ أَقُل لَّكُمۡ لَوۡلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ ٢٨
The best among them said: Said I not unto you: Why glorify ye not (Allah).
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
The most moderate of them said: “Did I not tell you, why do you not glorify Allah?”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, “awsat” here does not mean the middle in age but, as Ibn ‘Abbas and Mujahid said, the most just and sensible of them.
