Measured Recitation
أَوۡ زِدۡ عَلَيۡهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَرۡتِيلًا ٤
Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur’an in measure.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Or add to it, and recite the Qur’an in measured tones.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, adding means standing more than half, two thirds or at most three quarters of the night. The time is spent reciting the Qur’an slowly and distinctly.
Reflect
Read a page of the Qur’an today slowly and clearly, without hurrying.
